Odysseia-In - Bulgaria

Odysseia-InOdysseia-In (Bulgaria): a tourism company and pioneer of eco-tourism in Bulgaria with widespread involvement in sustainably developing natural and cultural resources for tourism in rural areas.
Odysseia-in was founded in 1990 by a team of pioneers set on developing a different, more respectful and responsible tourism, off the beaten track. They began gradually opening up Bulgarian mountains and villages to tourism and supported them to develop into destinations in their own right. Odysseia-in remains true to this mission and works with local partners to develop bed and breakfast and small hotels as well as designing projects that sustainably and respectfully exploit natural and cultural resources that the mountains and countryside have to offer.
Odysseia-in’s real passion is through direct action, like reforesting projects, providing funding to local people and to convents or monasteries for small restoration projects. It also lobbies the government for laws that protect and recognise the rights of small operators in Bulgarian tourism, the profession of mountain guides and small-scale producer networks.
In late 2016, Odysseia-in was awarded the Biodiversity Prize in Bulgaria and in 2015, it became the first Bulgarian destination management company to be awarded TRAVELIFE certification. It also organises the Green Days Organic Food and Green Tourism Festival in Bulgaria and the Challenge Days festival for mountaineers Finally, Odysseia-in is a member of the Danube Competence Centre (Belgrade) and of BAAT (association for alternative tourism in Bulgaria).
