Discovering the sanctuary of lavender


This holiday is dedicated to discovering fragrant lavender landscapes throughout the summer months as the blue flowers grow, bloom and dry in Provencal sun. You will also meet local lavender farmers who’ll teach you the secrets about cultivating this mythical and precious flower, together with how it is cut into bouquets and distilled.

Hiking in lavender country

The Plateau d‘Albion lies at the foot of Mont Ventoux and is a sanctuary for lavender farming. It is also one of the biggest production areas in the world. In July, the blue hues of the landscape are at their peak and harvesting begins! ,You holiday takes you from village to village, staying in small, charming country hotels. It gives you an intimate glance into rural life in Haute Provence, in the countryside made famous by Jean Giono and René Char. And don’t forget you’ll climb to the summit of Mont Ventoux too! You’ll make daily excursions from your hotels to discover a whole host of picturesque villages, like Saint Christol d’Albion, Sault, Montbrun les Bains, Bedoin and finally, Avignon, for a day at the festival. Daniel and Thierry, two highly experienced guides who know the local area like the back of their hands, will be with you to make your stay in lavender country a real delight.



Welcome to Provence – Arrival in Avignon

  • Arrival at Avignon TGV railway station.
  • Transfer to the village of Saint-Christol d’Albion and check-in to the 2-star Les Lavandins hotel.
  • Presentation of your holiday programme followed by a walk in the lavender fields around Sault to take in the scene and some.
  • great photo opportunities.
  • Dinner and night at the hotel.


The life of a lavender farmer

  • Visit to the charming village of Ferrassières and lavender fields at “Ho! Bouquet de lavande” followed by a tasty Provencal.
  • lunch at the local bistro in Saint-Trinit.
  • Meet Natalie Busi, lavender farmer and passionate enthusiast of the blue flower. Learn to harvest using a sickle and discover.

  • Dinner and night at the hotel.


Lavender maquis

  • A Resistance-themed walk to Champ Long and Le Castellet, in the hills of Saint-Jean de Sault, set in a beautiful blue landscape.(9.9 km, 4h, alt +/- 215m).
  • Lunch at the Maguette farm.
  • Transfer to Les Esfourniaux farm at Largarde d’Apt followed by a guided visit of the farm.
  • Night at the farm.


Sunrise on Mont Ventoux

  • Transfer to Chalet Reynard. Arrive in Sault at around 10am and free time to visit the village and discover its weekly market.(every Wednesday)
  • Lunch at the Ô Pichoun restaurant followed by a visit to the Aroma’Plante distillery and return to your accommodation in the late afternoon to relax.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.


Montbrun-les-Bains – Well-being hike

  • A hike in the Barronies Provençales at Fort de Mévouillon, brimming with history, splendid lavender landscapes and the backdrop of the Pre-Alps (3.5hrs, 6km, alt +/-270m.)
  • Lunch at the Les Voyageurs restaurant in Montbrun les Bains.
  • Visit to the Valvital Spa and the chance to try out 3 well-being therapies and access to the spa relaxation area.
  • Transfer to Bédoin in late afternoon to check-in to the Le Garance Hotel and dinner at a restaurant in the village.


On slopes of Mont Ventoux

  • Hike to pick wild lavender on Mont Ventoux using traditional methods and the chance to discover typical dry stone huts (Bories and Jas) (4hr, 8km, alt +200m/-500m).
  • Organic cold food platter of local products provided by Ventoux Passion Nature.
  • Dinner at a restaurant in Bedoin and night at the hotel.


Avignon – end of your stay in Provence

  • Transfer to Avignon and free time to make the most of the festival (all types of street theatre and events).
  • Visit to the Popes Palace and Saint-Bénezet Bridge included (with audio-guide).
  • Transfer to Avignon TGV railway station at the end of the day.
