While the summit of Mont Ventoux is the holy grail for cyclists worldwide, its southern slopes shelter generous, fertile and sunny soils, carefully farmed by generations of farmers who have shaped one of the finest landscapes in Provence. It is precisely this intimate relationship with the land that you’ll discover with farmers, craft makers and guides, who will reveal to you not just a basket of tasty seasonal products but also the sense of their work that respects this outstanding environment. You’ll visit villages, meet local people, gather fruits and help out in farm tasks alongside them to really experience this emblematic area of Provence. You’ll savour the sunshine flavours on your plate but also get inspired to release your creative talents too!

PROGRAM - 4 seasons on the farm at the foot of Mont Ventoux

DAY 1

Welcome to Provence – Arrival in Avignon

  • Arrival at Avignon TGV railway station to be met by your guide/driver.
  • Visit of Avignon city centre and lunch.
  • Check-in to the “Plein Pagnier” farmhouse, followed by a wine tasting session.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 2

Ventoux villages

  • Day-long excursion with your driver/guide.
  • Meet a truffle farmer and see a demonstration of truffle hunting (late November to March).  
  • In September, this activity will be substituted for a visit to another local farmer or craft maker, e.g. a potter where you can try your hand to make something.
  • Guided visit to Bedoin market.
  • Lunch at the “Le Saint-Romain” Bistrot de Pays restaurant in Crillon-Le-Brave.
  • Visit to the village of Flassan and its local jam-making workshop.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 3

Lending a hand down on the farm

  • A day on the farm, living the life of a farmer for a morning, gathering cherries, working on the vines or picking olives, according to season.
  • Lunch at the farm. Afternoon guided visit of the estate, followed by a creative workshop inspired by the farm where you can try your hand at photos, paintings and drawings, etc.   
  • Wine tasting workshop at the end of the afternoon, with a professional wine expert.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 4

Plateau de Sault

  • Day-long excursion with your driver/guide.
  • Reach the Plateau de Sault by the picturesque road along the Gorges de la Nesque.
  • Gourmet walk with a mountain guide for a 4-hour hike with various stops along the way (beekeeper and his honey workshop, truffle museum and an aromatic plant distillery).
  • Picnic lunch in the countryside.
  • Participatory workshop at the late afternoon at goat farm in Saint-Christol, where you’ll learn how to wrap the famous Banon AOP cheese in its sweet chestnut leaves.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 5

Down on the farm and the Dentelles de Montmirail

  • A second morning of helping out in tasks around the farm followed by lunch at the farmhouse.
  • Afternoon excursion with your driver/guide to discover the Dentelles de Montmirail, with a panoramic tour and several stops in the villages of Seguret, Beaumes de Venise and Le Barroux.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 6

The Comtat-Venaissin

  • Day-long excursion with your driver/guide.
  • Morning visit to the town of Carpentras and guided visit of its famous weekly market.  
  • Also, visit to the local truffle market (late November to March).
  • Lunch at the “Domaine de la Camarette” restaurant in Pernes-Les-Fontaines.
  • Guided visit of the village before returning to the farm.
  • Dinner and night at the farm.

DAY 7

Departure

  • Transfer to Avignon TGV railway station.
  • Holiday ends.
